Mission Statement
Whereas
Board certification is widely accepted by members
of the public as the touchstone of physician
quality, and
Board certification is coveted by physicians
for the professional recognition and personal
esteem derived from this most rigorous and intellectually
invasive peer review process, and
Board certification undertaken by an individual
is his commitment to maintain the standards
of excellence and professionalism expected by
the public, and required of and by the allied
health professions, and
Board certification must never be gratuitously
granted,
Wherefore
the ACCPPS has set for itself the tasks of:
Establishing a fair and reliable process by
which the sum of one's academic knowledge and
that special wisdom borne of experience may
be measured to show that he merits certification
by this board;
Maintaining an ongoing mandatory recertification
process so those who are certified by this board
may demonstrate continued merit;
Fostering research into, and the free exchange
of information regarding, scientific developments
and evolving professional philosophies;
Securing standards of equal opportunity for
all podiatrists possessed of the requisite knowledge
and skills to practice;
Increasing public awareness of the specialty
profession of podiatry, and
Stimulating growth in the quality and availability
of health care services.
